I think I know what recovery feels like
It’s once again feeling the heat of the water when you shower
It’s the sweetness of plum jam on bread
It is the shaking of bones as you stand up
It is the smile of an unknown future

I think I know what recovery feels like
It is like whistling to an unfamiliar but catchy tune
It is the rush to close the window when it’s coming to rain
It is the acceptance of things you can’t change
It is the joy of floating in a dream.

I know what recovery is
It is finally feeling the pain of the statement, “I loved her..
And sometimes I think she did too.”
